SST Says Electronic Bail is Every Criminals Dream

SST Says Electronic Bail is Every Criminals Dream

24th February 2016

“No electronic bail for violent offenders; Judges are paid to protect our society & need to step up & start doing their jobs!"

Sensible Sentencing Trust’s Manawatu Spokesperson Scott Guthrie is calling for the Government to step up and change the law so that no one that is charged with violent crimes of any description be released on electronic bail.

Guthrie’s call comes the same day as violent convicted offender Norman Howell removed his electronic bracelet and is on the run from police.

Scott says Howell is a patched Mongrel Mob member who has an extremely violent and undesirable history. "The question must once again be asked as to why these types of offenders are being released from custody."

"Previously we have seen the likes of convicted paedophile, sexual predator & drug dealer Christopher Crause leave the country while on electronic bail and it just keeps on happening. The Criminals are having a laugh at the cost of the tax payer and it must stop and stop now."

Scott says it’s a waste of time calling for our judges to stop releasing these types of offenders on bail because it’s obvious our judges don’t want to listen so he is calling on Judith Collins to step into the debate and change the law.

Judges are the gate-keepers for society and politicians appoint our judges so how about both parties step up and start protecting our law abiding citizens END:
