Treasury: Monthly Economic Indicators February 2016


The February Monthly Economic Indicators (MEI) was published today on the Treasury Website at 2:00pm. The report provides a summary of recent economic events.

The main points:
• Economic growth picked up over the second half of 2015
• The unemployment rate fell to its lowest in six years, although is not expected to be sustained
• Inflation pressures remain weak
• Global growth moderated in December

This month’s special topic looks at different weighting schemes for New Zealand’s trading partner growth rate.
