What is going on with the Natural Health & Supplementary Products Bill?

The Natural Health and Supplementary Products Bill now only needs tohave its final reading and it becomes law, which is expected to take effect around June 2016.

The Government asked the public for feedback and submissions closed on Friday 5 Feb 2016 http://www.health.govt.nz/publication/regulation-natural-health-products-consultation

Astonishingly this consultation process was based on a Supplementary Order Paper (SOP) dated 15 March 2016. Obviously, this could not possibly have been made publicly available until after the consultation period had finished. Even more surprisingly, the earlier draft SOP dated 18 August 2015 (that contained substantial changes to the Bill as amended by the Health Select Committee) was also not made publicly available – to ANYONE!

Health Freedom NZ (HFNZ) asks how can the Ministry of Health credibly claim that it has consulted, when the version of the Natural Health & Supplementary Products Bill that was consulted on - was unavailable to the public and all submitters at the time? This is a totally ludicrous state of affairs. What is the Ministry of Health up to?
