James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor Supports I Love Fiji

James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor Supports I Love Fiji Cyclone Relief Concert

The James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor is proud to support the I Love Fiji Cyclone Relief Concert, held this Saturday 21 May from 6pm at the Michael Fowler Centre.

Organised by the Fijian Community Association and Churches Unite, all proceeds from the event will go to rebuilding schools that were destroyed by the cyclone through the Fijian Government's "Adopt a School Programme". Recognising the importance of the fundraiser for those devastated by the cyclone in February 2016, the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor has donated 23 room nights, plus breakfast for the top New Zealand Pacific artists performing on the night.

General Manager, Steve Martin, acknowledges the close cultural ties and connection the Hotel and New Zealand has with our Pacific Island neighbour. “We have a number of staff as well as guests who are of Fijian heritage. The destruction Cyclone Winston left in its path is overwhelming, particularly for the children whose education facilities were wiped out. We are fortunate to be in a position to contribute to the relief concert and hope the Wellington community support the event”.

Tickets for the I Love Fiji Cyclone Relief Concert are still available via Ticketek, with general admission from $30.00 and a run time of 4.5 hours. We also invite locals to attend our Pasifika Food Festival running from the 9–19 June at Whitby’s Restaurant & Bar, celebrating the culture and cuisine of the Pacific Island nations.
