Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Condemns Orlando Attack

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of New Zealand condemns in the very strongest possible terms Monday’s attack at an Orlando nightclub in which 49 innocent lives were brutally lost and dozens more were wounded.

“Our community stands unity with the rest of New Zealand in condemning all forms of terrorism in the name of religion. It is very disheartening for true believers of Islam to see such barbaric acts against humanity done by so-called Muslims which are completely against the true teachings of Islam. The Holy Quran has said that to kill even one innocent person is akin to killing all of mankind” said Mr. Mohammed Iqbal, National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

“On behalf of our Community, I extend our deepest of sympathies and prayers to all those which have lost their loved ones and to anyone who has been affected in any way. May Allah the Almighty grant us patience and ensure that peace and goodwill prevails during these sad times” said Mr. Iqbal.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, fast-growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889 by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) in Punjab, India, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spans over 206 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. The New Zealand branch of this community was established in 1987 and has just over 400 members. It is a registered charitable organisation and endeavours to be an active and integrated community within New Zealand society.
