Submissions open on changes to rules for disposal

Submissions open on changes to rules for disposal of hazardous substances

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) is calling for submissions on proposals to change the rules for managing the disposal of hazardous substances.
The changes are part of a wider government effort to improve workplace health and safety.

The EPA Hazardous Substances (Disposal) Notice aims to simplify and consolidate the way hazardous substances are managed.

It proposes deleting rules that are no longer needed, updating rules that are out of date and transferring current rules that are fit for purpose and the updated rules into an EPA Hazardous Substances (Disposal) Notice.

The disposal notice will replace the existing Hazardous Substances (Disposal) Regulations 2001.

Submissions on the proposed notice open on Monday 11 July 2016 and close Monday 22 August 2016.
