Police Have Our Support Says Sensible Sentencing Trust

Police Have Our Support Says Sensible Sentencing Trust

15th July 2016

The Sensible Sentencing Trust says their support of the Police is unwavering following two shootings in recent times.

Trust Founder Garth McVicar said, “The reality is that society is now reaping the seeds that were sown years ago but the Police are the guys having to mop up the mess.”

“I recall Greg O’Connor speaking at the SST inaugural meeting in 2001 and warning about the scourge of methamphetamine and the effect it would have on society, his plea was for the Government of the day to give the Police adequate resources to deal with what was then just an emerging problem.”

“Nothing was done and P is now like a plague ripping through our communities with a drastic effect resulting in increasing domestic violence, child abuse, burglaries, violent crime and police shootings.”

“Greg’s warnings were ignored, nothing was done and now society [and the Police] are paying the price.”

“The Police have our sympathy and full support, if we are going to blame and point the finger at anyone it needs to be at years of liberal nuttiness, political inaction and inadequate funding for the Police.” ENDS
