Rich Listers Son Gets Wet Bus Ticket Sentence for
Serious Assault on Female Police Office

September 2016
“Any assault on a police officer must carry a serious penalty and a wet bus ticket slap on the hand with a fine does not fit the criteria of serious.” Scott Guthrie
Nikolas James Posa Delegate, 19, appeared for sentencing before Judge Kevin Phillips in the Dunedin District Court on Monday.
Delegat "became enraged" at a comment made by a male associate about his girlfriend, and punched a hole in the bar's window. A passing police patrol noticed the disturbance and stopped to help. Constable Alana Kane was punched in the face causing her to lose consciousness and then was subjected to several more punches to the face while she lay defenceless.
“It
was a serious violent attack”, “It nearly destroyed her
life," Judge Kevin Phillips
Constable Kane spent 15
hours at Dunedin Hospital after the incident, was off work
and could not drive for two months and still suffers
headaches.
In her victim impact statement, Constable Kane
said Delegat showed no remorse and she believed she was
"very lucky" to have escaped without more
injuries.
“Police officers are there to protect the public from clowns like this so it’s about time the Judges of New Zealand stepped up and started supporting the Police instead of pandering to the offenders” Scott Guthrie
Defence Lawyers argued that a conviction would
stop Delegat pursuing a Financial Markets Authority career
and he would be unable to race in yachting competitions in
the United States.
Delegat is the son of winemaker Jim
Delegat, who with his sister Rosemari, is estimated to be
worth $450 million.
“Just because daddy is wealthy business man doesn’t give anyone the right to escape the law and be a thug” Scott Guthrie ENDS
