Tick for Kids Wellington Mayoral Forum: come and hear new research into the experiences and ideas of young New Zealanders

Tick for Kids* is hosting a Wellington Mayoral Candidates Forum to grill candidates on what they will do to improve child wellbeing in Wellington.

Local government is well placed to impact the wellbeing of children and young people through effective advocacy, policy and investment. As we head into local body elections let’s ask those vying to be our councillors and mayors - what will you do to improve life for children locally?

"We are excited that at the forum young people from Save the Children NZ and UNICEF NZ will present on research they have produced into the experiences and thoughts of young people across Aotearoa NZ, and the issues they have identified as important" says Lisa Woods, Tick for Kids spokesperson.

The report, Our Voices. Our Rights. is a window into the lives and wishes of young New Zealanders; sharing their thoughts, experiences and opinions.

The New Zealand government is currently reporting on progress to implement the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and this report has been produced to enable the participation of children and young people in this process.

*Tick for Kids is broad coalition of organisations and individuals working to make children's rights and interests a central focus for all decision-makers.
