Suffrage Day – Equal pay as easy as 1-2-3

What: Flowers (white roses) for female MPs in recognition of 123 years since New Zealand women won the vote and the need to ensure that New Zealand pays women equally.

Where: Parliament stairs
When: 11am, Today (Monday 19 September)
Who: Jan Logie, Green MP, to receive the flowers on behalf of all female MPs

The card attached to the white rose reads:
“It’s been 123 years since New Zealand woman successfully won the right to vote. Equal pay for work of equal value was one of the next issues the campaign for women’s suffrage wanted to win. 123 years later getting to equal pay can be as easy as 1 -2 -3.

The Government must -
1. Implement the agreed Equal Pay Principles
2. Settle the equal pay claim taken by Kristine Bartlett on behalf of caregivers
3. Allocate funding so that future equal pay claims can be settled

Please take your white flower into the debating chamber on Tuesday, 20 September 2016 when the house is next sitting in support of equal pay.”
