Three strikes and you're out, EPA
Three strikes and you're out EPA
Te Runanga o Ngati Ruanui Trust (Ngati Ruanui) are shocked and appalled to find yet another stuff up by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).
This time, the EPA has failed to release videos which were part of the previously redacted information.
The Environment Court issued an order to release all the redacted information but the EPA neglected a vital piece of the puzzle.
Debbie Ngarewa-Packer, Kaiarataki said she had lost faith in the EPA.
"It just seems to be incompetent step after incompetent step throughout this whole TTR application, and this is the agency responsible for monitoring the seabed mining activity if it goes ahead".
"These videos give visual representation of what TTR plans, yet despite a ruling from the Environment Court to EPA they have failed to release them".
The latest EPA brain-fade comes hot on the heels of the Environment Court ruling several hundred pages were wrongly blanked out by the EPA, and the decision to extend the time frame for submissions after Ngati Ruanui challenged the first submission time frame.
Te Runanga o Ngati Ruanui Haimona Maruera Jnr said the Iwi were beyond frustrated and saying this latest incident is an embarrassment for EPA and the government. Our Iwi will once again request an extension to the submission date".
"This proposed project will be devastating to our coastline and seabed yet they appear to be working against the South Taranaki Community.
"We are seeking further direction from the Environment Court on the failure of the EPA to release the videos, and will be seeking further extension of time."
