Hamilton bus drivers have wages deducted before Christmas

Hamilton bus drivers have wages deducted before Christmas

The union representing bus drivers at Pavlovich Coachlines in Hamilton is condemning the company for deducting money from drivers’ wages only days before Christmas.

Drivers have taken two rounds of strike action this month over a poor pay offer in negotiations.

“This is typical of the way Pavlovich has been treating drivers throughout the course of these negotiations” said FIRST Union’s Hamilton-based organiser Tony Stevens.

“There’s no chance for drivers to appeal before Christmas meaning many families will be out of pocket at a time when every penny counts. We’re not going to let the company get away with what we think is an illegal action.”

“The CEO Bernard Pavlovich should show some Christmas spirit and extend a bit of gratitude to the drivers who create his profits,” said Stevens.
