2 Sets of Urgent Recommendations for Recent Inquiries

The Transport Accident Investigation Commission has published interim reports with urgent recommendations relating to two different inquiries opened recently:

AO-2017-001, collision with terrain, Eurocopter AS350-BA, ZK-HKW, Port Hills, Christchurch, 14 February 2017
MO-2017-203, burst nitrogen cylinder causing fatality on board the passenger cruise ship Emerald Princess, 9 February 2017

In both cases the relevant regulator has either undertaken or proposed to undertake appropriate actions and this is reflected in the reports.

The marine inquiry recommendations have significant implications for the shipping internationally.

The aviation inquiry recommendation has implications for any helicopter operations involving underslung loads.

The reports are attached and also available on our website.
