$91,000 spent to kill zero goats

Council has to be *kidding*: $91,000 spent to kill zero goats

20 JUNE 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Auckland Ratepayers’ Alliance spokesperson Jo Holmes responds to Auckland Council’s spend of $91,000 on a goat hunt that didn’t kill any goats:

“$91,000 to not find any goats on a goat hunt is absurd expenditure. The Council is literally paying professional hunters to take bush walks. We hope the exercise was worth it.”

“Over the last five years the average per-kill cost was $1,600. This is ridiculous considering amateur hunters would happily do the job free of charge, if the Council would let them.”

“Clearly, the Council is as skilled in eliminating goats as it is in eliminating Council waste.”
