AMINZ appointments

WELLINGTON — Royden Hindle is the new president of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand.

Mr Hindle, an Auckland-based arbitrator, adjudicator and mediator with Bankside Chambers was elected to the position by members of AMINZ. He also teaches dispute resolution at AUT University, and will continue in the role of AMINZ Director of Professional Studies.

Mr Hindle is joined by a new Vice President, Nicola Hartfield, a former hospital-based social worker who mediates disputes in the workplace, community and in families. Ms Hartfield also teaches mediation skills nationally and internationally.

The seven-member board, which oversees the national agency for dispute resolution, also includes former High Court Judge, Hon Paul Heath, QC, and family mediator Ngarongo Ormsby — both of them also newly elected — along with incumbents Sophie East, Mark Kelly and Nicole Smith.
