HiFX Data Update - NZ Q2 GDP Release

The NZ GDP for Q2 has just been released.

The GDP for Q2 came stronger than forecast (and as predicted by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern):

Adjusted GDP Q2/ Annual :

GDP +1.0% / +2.8% Consensus +0.8% / +2.5%

NZ GDP over the last 12 months has increased by 2.7%.

However, previous Y/Y GDP numbers were revised lower by 0.1% t% 2.6%.

Growth was broad-based, with 15 of 16 industries recording higher production. This stands in stark contrast to the dire business confidence figures.

The NZD is a higher in immediate response.
