The Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social
Workers (ANZASW) is pleased that the Supplementary Order
Paper making changes to the Social Workers Registration
Legislation Bill was agreed to by a majority vote on
Tuesday. The Bill now moves to its third reading
ANZASW is heartened by the fact that Members of Parliament on both sides of the House universally acknowledged the great and challenging work that social workers do in our communities.
ANZASW now looks forward to the 3rd Reading and Royal Assent and finally implementation of mandatory registration for social workers, giving social workers across the sector long-overdue recognition of their profession and the public can have confidence in their services
