Hurunui District Council well placed to meet newly released Government standards

The Government has recently released mandatory planning standards for councils to meet. The new standards address the structure and form of plans, as well as setting national definitions and requiring plans to be accessible and interactive online (ePlan).

Judith Batchelor the Hurunui District Council’s Regulatory Services Manager says “our council is well placed to deal with the ePlan requirements. Our recently reviewed District Plan was adopted in June 2018 and already sits on a searchable online platform. Our council invested in digital technology early in the review process and all plan changes and submissions are being managed through the ePlan”.

While councils have 10 years to achieve the online interactive plan requirements, forword thinking and investment by the Hurunui District Council in 2016 means that only minor changes will be needed to be fully compliant within the required timeframe.
