Peters and Peck Stung by Libertarianz Attack

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

'Peters and Peck Stung by Libertarianz Attack'

Seven politicians today felt the full blast of a Libertarianz attack on the institution funding their privileged lifestyle, the IRD, and unsurprisingly were stung by the assault. In the face of implied threats - from both Winston Peters and Mark Peck - Julian Darby, Lindsay Perigo and Peter Cresswell told the IRD Inquiry earlier today that they should not be surprised to hear the many stories of departmental thuggery and abuse, for people empowered by politicians to steal will naturally behave like thugs.

"The Committee has heard heart-rending stories of intimidation and bullying by the IRD," said Julian Darby, "and it is important to realise that changing the culture of the organisation will never be enough. Instead," he said, "we must challenge the underlying idea that New Zealanders' lives belong to the state; we must recognise that our money, and our lives, are our own."

"But it was being told that taxation is the forced confiscation of private property - and therefore legalised theft - that caused Mr Peters' loudest outburst. Clearly disturbed, he fumed: "I object to have to listen to this." "Let me assure Mr Peters," says Darby, " that he will continue to hear these arguments - loudly, and often."
