Telecom Has Property Rights Too!

"The destruction of private property rights in New Zealand continues with
frightening speed under this National Socialist government," claimed
Libertarianz Finance Spokesman Julian Darby today.

Because of its ownership and control of the local line network the
government is imposing a 'disclosure regime' requiring Telecom to disclose
proprietary information about its business .

"There is absolutely no justification for such regulations", said Darby.
"Supporters of this new regime will waffle such bromides as the 'common
good' and 'fair competition' as justification. Yet notice that these terms
are regularly used to justify the destruction of property rights, as is
happening here!"

"The fundamental issue is: Whose property is it? If it is Telecom's, then
let them be free to do with it what they wish, so long as they do not
infringe the rights of others. On the other hand if the state will not
accord Telecom the rights inherent in private ownership, then let us rid
ourselves of the pretence that we live in a semi-free country.
