Time Running Out for Property Rights

"Time is running out to stop the North Shore City Council's proposed blanket tree protection by -law," warns Libertarianz spokesman Michael Murphy today.

Objections must be in by this Friday the 22 of October, and Murphy urged all residents of North Shore City - and indeed all New Zealanders - to protest this intrusive and Orwellian by-law.

Under the proposal property owners must consult the Council before removing or extensively pruning their own trees.

Remember the Hilditch family of Remuera where the removal of a dangerous tree cost them over $ 30,000 in legal costs with just such a ban in place!.

This is a complete reversal and utter denial of our property rights. What will these tree hugging control freaks think of next?

Will we have to consult the council as to the colour to paint houses; or the colour of your bed sheets; or to make love in an acceptably eco-friendly way?

Murphy points out that all you have to do to strike a blow for freedom and have your say is fax the council on 486-8509 and say " I object to proposed variation 51". You don't even have to be a resident of North Shore City. That's fax: 09-486-8509
