.Net Doyen to give one-off New Zealand Seminars
AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Wednesday, March 21, 2001 - Peter Stanski, who holds a doctorate in computer science from Monash University, Australia, will be in New Zealand from March 26 to April 3, 2001, to run a series of one day developer seminars in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch on the Microsoft® .NET platform, and in particular, Visual Basic .NET and Visual Studio .NET.
"We have been working with .NET for the past two years and what excites us is the power it has as the great unifier of developer languages into one single framework. Never before could you contemplate having developers with different languages working in teams together. .NET makes this a reality," said Dr Stanski.
"Added to this, we believe that .NET is set to bring Web and application development in line with each other. Using the .NET platform, components can be built and transformed into web pages - and in the not too distant future, web pages will be created on demand for the type of device that needs to view them, be it hand-held PCs, mobile telephones or PDAs." Monash is the first university in the world to run .NET as a subject and the upcoming seminar series in this country makes New Zealand only the second country in the world to host this type of .NET seminar.
Limited to only twelve participants, the seminar introduces participants to Visual Basic.NET and Visual Studio.NET in a hands-on classroom environment. Each session will begin with an overview of the technology, and how it fits into the overall .NET framework.
