SearchNOW becomes the largest NZ Search Engine

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2nd July 2001

SEARCHNOW (http://searchnow.co.nz) BECOMES THE LARGEST NEW ZEALAND SEARCH ENGINE

New Zealand search site SearchNOW.co.nz has indexed over 3.2 million local web pages - making it easily New Zealand's largest search engine.

New Zealand search engine SearchNOW has posted a new record for local pages indexed with its latest tally of 3.2 million .nz domain pages. It is believed to be the biggest database of NZ web pages indexed by a search engine - local and international.

"SearchNOW's capacity is growing exponentially," says Paul Foster-Nesbit, manager of SearchNOW. "With growth of over 100% in the last six months SearchNOW is well on its way to meeting the target of six million indexed pages by the end of the year," he says.

"Growth of indexed pages is being matched by strong growth in audience usage which is now running at more than 100,000 searches per month".

Advertisers have been quick to capitalise on this targeted audience. SearchNOW has developed and impressive roster of advertisers including Compaq, Clear, esolutions, Telecom, Toyota, Samsung, NZ Jobs, Imax, Autopoint, and United Airlines.

The new tally takes SearchNOW.co.nz past competing overseas products. "We're searching and indexing purely in the New Zealand web space, so we can confidently say that no overseas based search engine compares in terms of focus on New Zealand - and therefore quality of results," says Foster-Nesbit. "And now we're proud to say that no overseas search engine can compare in terms of New Zealand web pages indexed."

Its daily spidering of major New Zealand sites also ensures SearchNOW is not only the biggest but also the most up to date.

Meanwhile response time - the time it takes for a search to complete - is just as fast as ever, says Foster-Nesbit.
