Local IT Industry Stays A Step Ahead With .NET Technology At Tech Ed 2001

Definitive Technical Conference Focuses On Building And Deploying .NET Solutions

AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Friday, July 27, 2001 - Software developers and IT professionals attending Tech·Ed 2001, the definitive technical conference for New Zealand's IT industry, will be among the first in the country to see and sample the tools and technologies for building and deploying solutions using the .NET platform. Tech·Ed 2001, hosted by Microsoft New Zealand, runs from August 20 - 22 at the Auckland Convention Centre with over 600 delegates expected this year, the largest attendance in its four-year history.

The theme of the conference is "Stay A Step Ahead". The event will appeal to software developers and deployment professionals. Developers will learn how to excel in the emerging world of XML Web Services, taking advantage of the connectivity of the Internet, and will also find out more about Microsoft* Visual Studio* .NET.

Operations and infrastructure staff will receive information on real world Windows* deployment and techniques for managing .NET Enterprise Servers in their organisations. All attendees will receive Visual Studio .NET Beta 2 and .NET Framework Beta 2 software, the first time Microsoft New Zealand has made these groundbreaking development tools widely available in this country.

.NET Leaders to be Keynote Speakers

Keynote speakers Stan Sorenson and Gregory Leake, both from Microsoft Corporation in the United States, have taken a leading role in the development of the .NET platform. Leake is a Group Product Manager in the .NET Enterprise Server Group and is responsible for technical marketing for the .NET platform, while Sorenson is Director of .NET Enterprise Server Marketing with over 10 years experience at Microsoft.

Both speakers will focus on .NET and XML Web Services and how the new .NET tools make it easy for developers and IT professionals to move quickly and easily into the new era of the programmable web. Sorenson will also be presenting an overview of the .NET Enterprise Server Family, a comprehensive e-business platform that provides the foundation for today's agile business.
