gen-i strengthens specialist government division

WELLINGTON, Thursday 15 November, 2001 - Internet integrator, gen-i limited announced today the establishment of its e-government practice, bringing together the skills and expertise developed over many years of delivering solutions and services to Government.

The practice brings together a wide range of business and technical skills, committed to supporting the government vision of enabling it to, “use information and communications technologies to provide better services and information electronically and to build a closer relationship between government and citizens .”

gen-i’s focus is to further endorse and support the e-government strategy by;

- Integrating gen-i’s systems and processes with e-government initiatives

- Participating in e-government working groups

- Developing applications and solutions that deliver government services online.

“It is evident that the government is committed to e-business development and building on the foundations that it set in place in its first year,” says gen-i’s Mike Malthus, gen-i Government Client Manager.

The practice builds on solutions such as the web-enabling Department of Internal Affairs’ legacy systems, integrating XML processing into business-critical applications for Department of Corrections, and supporting the infrastructure for MAF’s secure electronic export documentation system.

gen-i’s services extend to support of IT Infrastructures, such as Citrix, Microsoft and Novell, collaboration and document management tools, and e-procurement facilities.

The company’s investment in e-government is demonstrated by its support of the emerging e-government interoperability framework (e-GIF ). “ gen-i’s partnership with organisations such as OpenText, Citrix, Brio and Microsoft, will turn the e-GIF concepts into real solutions for our clients” says Mike Malthus.
