Broadband Survey

7 December 2001

BROADBAND SURVEY

The Strategic Development Group of Hutt City Council is to survey businesses in Hutt City in an effort to find out whether access to broadband technology is regarded as impediment to successfully doing business.

Businesses will start to receive the survey forms early next week.

Survey results will be to support the direction of Council's Knowledge Economy Strategy and will assist in setting priorities for action over the next few years.

Clare Hadley, Economic Initiatives Manager, said Council needed to know just how big an issue broadband was for businesses.

"We have anecdotal evidence that broadband is an issue for some companies, but we need to know more precisely just how big a group we are dealing with. We recognise that communications capability is a key infrastructure for some companies, and we need to quantify the demand for such services," said Clare Hadley.

"It is very important that businesses complete a survey form, either one they have been sent or online, so that we can get a clearer picture of the city's needs now, and into the future."

Survey forms can be filled in online at www.huttcity.govt.nz/survey.html
