LSN relaxed about GE-Ad appeal

The Life Sciences Network welcomes the opportunity to once again debate the L-Tryptophan issue in a formal environment, said Chairman of the Life Sciences Network Dr William Rolleston today.
Dr Rolleston was responding to a statement by Anti-GE campaigner Claire Bleakley.
Ms Bleakley has said she will appeal a decision by the Advertising Standards Authority to reject her complaint against an advertisement by LSN.
The full-page advertisement, which ran in newspapers in July, stated, "no health issue involving GE products has ever been substantiated".
Ms Bleakley objected to the Advertising Standards Authority saying that a GE health supplement L-Tryptophan killed 36 people and injured 1500 in 1989.
However, Dr Rolleston said, “There is no substantiated evidence that genetically modified products have posed a health problem anywhere in the world”

“We are confident any appeal authority will reconfirm what has already determined by United States courts and reported by the New Zealand Royal Commission on GE.
“The US courts found the manufacturing process rather than genetic modification was at fault in the L-Tryptophan incident in 1989”
