Email Antivirus Protection

Quicksilver Internet announced today the launch of antivirus email protection on Monday 2nd December for their customers.

The Antivirus protection will be free for all customers until the 1st of March 2003. It will continue to be free for all customers who pay by Direct Debit or Automatic Credit Card payments after the initial period and it will be available for $2 per month for all customers who pay by other methods.

Quicksilver’s Marketing Manager, Trevor Isted said that unlike other companies the service is not compulsory and customers do have the option to not use the service. “Freedom of choice is important to our customers and that’s what we want to provide”.

"Viruses are becoming more commonly spread through emails, and a survey of our customers showed that a large percentage wanted the ability to have their emails scanned before they arrived at their PC".

Quicksilver will use the well recognized antivirus software "f-Prot" to scan for known viruses. The program will scan all incoming email messages to Quicksilver customers. If a Virus is detected the email will be blocked and a notification will be issued to the sender and intended recipient detailing the virus that was found.
