SOT, F-Secure, Hp And Oracle Call Linux Summit In Finland

Technology Center Hermia, Finland, 2.12.2002

GNU/Linux is becoming more and more popular among businesses and government bodies. To meet this growing interest SOT, in co-operation with F-Secure, HP and Oracle, is organizing a Linux Summit aimed at IT decision-makers and experts. The summit focuses on sustainable, commercially viable GNU/Linux and Open Source solutions and will be held in Dipoli, Finland on 27-28 of February 2003.

"This summit includes information aimed at helping business and IT managers assess and deploy GNU/Linux and Open Source solutions. It will also give realistic end-user experiences concerning the TCO and cost savings", commented Mr. Santeri Kannisto, chairman of the Summit's organizing committee and CEO of SOT.

The Linux Summit 2003 is the biggest event on the Open Source horizon for Northern Europe and the Baltics, with the organizers expecting to attract international interest due to the Summit's location. Finland is the the home country of Linus Torvalds, the "father" of Linux. Speakers at the event will include Mr. Richard Stallman and Mr. Jon "Maddog" Hall.

The Summit covers broad areas of GNU/Linux and Open Source with three parallel tracks: - Linux in Business: 2 non-stop days of real Linux business cases, with presentations including solutions, reasoning and experiences in Finnish. - Open Source Arena: insights into GNU/Linux and Open Source directly from the top of the world in English. - Training: Various training workshops by international experts, covering GNU/Linux and security, databases, Gnome and KDE, and using GNU/Linux in the office.

JC Espoo is helping with the Summit's onsite organization. Additional information about the Linux Summit 2003 is available at http://www.sot.com/en/sot/summit2003.shtml
