FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Carter Holt Harvey New Zealand Pavilion has had its 15,000th visitor with the large screens used to feature New Zealand companies making a big impact.
Tech-Rentals, a global organisation that specialises in the rental of technical and business equipment, provided the New Zealand Pavilion with the visual and computing hardware needed to ensure the Pavilion experience is a memorable one for every visitor.
Tech-Rentals Managing Director Roger Carter says they became the Technology Provider for the Pavilion to support the business community in pursuing innovative thinking and achievement.
“Innovation doesn’t just stop at commercialising a good idea – it has to become a cornerstone of the organisation and filter through everything the company does.
“If you’re a smart innovative company – it is really important you convey that to investors and business partners through everything you do. Many of our clients rent specific technology because it assists in demonstrating their level of innovative thinking and advancement. Anyone still using an overhead projector at a conference , for example, really needs to ask what it is doing for their company image,” says Mr Carter.
The
Pavilion at the American Express Viaduct Harbour has been
developed by Industry New Zealand in partnership with
business to celebrate New Zealand’s unique, creative and
innovative talents - past, present and future. It features
innovative business leaders and their ideas, especially
those having achieved success on a global scale.
My Carter says when New Zealanders deal with people overseas they are sometimes suspected of being behind the times due to New Zealand’s geographic distance. “However it’s hard not to be taken seriously when using the latest in leading-edge technology. By indicating levels of efficiency and effectiveness, choice of technology is often associated with how innovative and advanced a company is perceived to be.
“Our customers choose amongst an enormous range of technology to use for both long and short term projects whether using the equipment nationally or internationally. Many of these technologies are not yet widely used in the international business arena. It’s a great way to make a memorable first impression,” says Mr Carter.
Industry New Zealand chief executive Neil Mackay says the technology used in the Pavilion has been particularly effective at capturing the theme and general mood. “It’s a dynamic multi-media experience involving over 60 multi-media screens taking each visitor on a personal journey as they move through the Pavilion. It’s a unique experience which will increase people’s awareness of innovation and its importance to the New Zealand economy."
Mr Carter says as Tech-Rentals provides such a wide range of solutions from electrical and network testing equipment to plasma screens and digital cameras, it is important they remain at the forefront of new technology advancements. “Participation in the Pavilion gives us an opportunity to showcase some of the latest computing and visual technology available.”
The Tech-Rentals group is the largest rental organisation in the Southern Hemisphere for personal computers, electronic test and measurement instruments, and peripherals.
“More and more businesses are wanting to rent technology to demonstrate their level of innovation while saving on capital and maintenance costs. As a result we have grown our product range to include the sale and rental of laptops, peripherals, sophisticated graphic workstations, imaging equipment, wireless technology and environmental monitoring devices,” says Mr Carter.
“We provide solutions for clients of all sizes from multinationals to sole traders, in highly diverse industries such as telecommunications, geological consulting, advertising, engineering and legal advising.
“Renting is definitely an attractive option for clients who have fluctuating periods of demand and want to preserve their capital. Renting also enables businesses to easily allocate equipment costs and ensure that they are future proofed. Improvements to specific technologies can happen incredibly quickly and the difference in quality or relevance to a specific job can be immense compared with previous versions or between product ranges. Putting equipment on trial before committing to a purchase can help avoid costly mistakes,” says Mr Carter.
Tech-Rentals have offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and all states of Australia.
The Carter Holt Harvey New Zealand Pavilion features eight Innovation Leaders which include: virtual reality technologist Dr Mark Billinghurst of the Human Interface Technology (HIT) Lab, fencing entrepreneur Bill Gallagher of Gallagher Group, literacy exporter Wendy Pye of Wendy Pye Group, international fashion designer Karen Walker, multi-media entrepreneur Ian Taylor of Animation Research, software exporter and programmer Sir Gil Simpson of Jade Software Corporation, special effects wizard, Richard Taylor of Weta Workshop and biotechnology guru Dr Jim Watson of Genesis Research and Development Corporation.
Carter Holt Harvey is the naming rights sponsor of the Pavilion.
