Oracle Delivers New "Switch And Save"

Oracle Delivers New "Switch And Save" Program For Bea Weblogic Customers

Free Migration Program to Oracle9i Application Server Helps Customer Save Up To 50 Percent on Software Infrastructure Costs

Oracle Corp. (NASDAQ: ORCL) has announced the worldwide availability of its "Switch and Save" migration program designed to help BEA WebLogic customers move to the new Oracle9i Application Server Java Edition. Oracle9i Application Server Java Edition is the only enterprise Java software offering that includes an application server, an integrated development environment (IDE) and advanced J2EE persistence software in one unified package. The new migration program enables BEA customers to directly exchange enterprise licenses of BEA WebLogic for an equal number of enterprise licenses for Oracle9i Application Server Java Edition, free of charge. In addition to gaining more functionality for no upfront cost, customers who migrate to Oracle will save up to 50 percent on ongoing maintenance and support costs.

The new migration program meets the growing market demand for a more complete and integrated alternative to BEA WebLogic. As of February, Oracle registered 15,000 Oracle9i Application Server customers, surpassing BEA's customer base by nearly 10 percent. Included in the 15,000 are a significant number of Oracle Database customers who initially chose BEA WebLogic and have found Oracle9i Application Server to be a more logical choice due to its optimisation with the Oracle database. Customers using both Oracle's Database and application server find that the tight link between the two products can bring faster development, increased cost savings, enhanced performance and simpler application and business integration.

"As business needs evolve, companies want to standardise on one application server that allows them to streamline business processes and meet scalability, security and integration requirements," said Charles Rozwat, executive vice president, Oracle9i Server Technologies. "Providing a truly integrated application server platform, Oracle9i Application Server provides the most logical choice to meet these needs. By offering the BEA Switch and Save program, Oracle enables BEA WebLogic customers to benefit from increased functionality, lower costs and simplified management - all with no risk."

BEA Customers Switch and Save Oracle's "Switch and Save" migration program features the following components:

* Free Migration - Oracle will offer one free Oracle9i Application Server Java Edition processor license for every switched BEA WebLogic processor. In addition, Oracle experts will migrate functional BEA WebLogic J2EE applications to Oracle9i Application Server free of charge.

* Up to 50 Percent Cost Savings - By migrating to Oracle9i Application Server Java Edition, existing BEA WebLogic customers can gain functionality and save up to 50 percent on the cost of ongoing maintenance and support of their application server infrastructure.

* Enterprise Class Java - As companies develop and deploy new applications and Web services, they will benefit from the lower cost of Oracle9i Application Server compared to BEA WebLogic. Additional Oracle9i Application Server Java Edition licenses are available for $5,000 per processor for a full-featured, enterprise-class J2EE development and deployment platform - at a price that is up to five times less cost than a comparable solution from BEA and software tools vendors and up to seven times less than IBM and software tools vendors.
