Sail the cyberseas with P&O Cruises
Kiwis now have the cyberseas at their fingertips thanks to P&O Cruises' new superliner-sized website, http://www.pocruises.co.nz.
The colourful 1500-page site carries exciting new features including the ability to cross live to more than a dozen P&O Cruises liners via birds-eye-view 'bridgecams'. Visitors also get the opportunity to track the route of a range of ships across the globe using a special global positioning satellite system.
The comprehensive site enables prospective passengers to surf information on deck plans, shore tours, menus, wine lists, entertainment guides, theme nights, dress tips, cabin layouts, passports, medical matters and the latest specials on offer. Brochures can also be ordered online.
While the website focuses on P&O Cruises' two Australasian ships - the fun and easygoing Pacific Sky and the luxurious new Pacific Princess - the site also provides information on 14 other P&O Cruises superliners. Features include more than 250 itineraries around the world encompassing more than 300 ports in exotic destinations such as Mexico, Alaska, The Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia.
The easy-to-navigate site, which marks 70 years of cruising from Australasia for P&O Cruises, also provides extensive multimedia resources for travel agents, media, students, historians and those interested in a career at sea.
P&O Cruises Australasia managing director Gavin Smith says the launch of the extensive website recognises the growing interest in cruise holidays.
"With so much information available, the site is the best tool yet to help holidaymakers plan their cruise getaway," Mr Smith says.
"The website incorporates the latest Flash web technology for broadband users but is also designed to cater for older computers with slower connections. Everyone from first-time cruisers to seasoned sailors can use the site to plan their holiday with P&O Cruises."
