Outcomes Looked For From Ict Task Force
The time frame is tight for the ICT Task Force to establish a clear plan for achieving the ambitious business growth targets it has set, the Executive Director of the Information Technology Association of New Zealand (ITANZ), Mr Jim O’Neill, said today.
“Industry will be looking to the Task Force to rapidly assemble a programme that will both encourage growth and remove the barriers to sector expansion that have already been identified.
“It is also essential that such a programme be focussed on clearly identifiable outcomes in line with Task Force targets so that progress can be readily benchmarked.
“It is good to see there is money in the Budget for the Task Force to continue its work. Now is the time to put runs on the board. We’ve got to have some hard and fast strategies.
“ITANZ is already following through suggestions of our own to grow demand domestically and internationally and we’re ready to partner with the task force to get fast progress.”
Mr O’Neill said he was
pleased that IT Minister Paul Swain had recognised there
were generic issues such as tax and regulation that need to
be looked at in the context of growth objectives.
