Computerworld Excellence Awards 2005

27 January 2005

Call for entries for Computerworld Excellence Awards 2005

Auckland 27 January 2005: The Computerworld Excellence Awards has kicked off for 2005, calling for entries from teams and individuals doing great things with IT in New Zealand. Now in their eighth year, the Excellence Awards honour outstanding achievement by users of information technology in New Zealand.

The Computerworld Excellence Awards has established itself as the leading recognition programme within the New Zealand IT industry, with many IT professionals striving to achieve the accolade of excellence conferred by the awards. In 2004 the event attracted over 300 entries with an even larger turnout at the gala presentation dinner. There are 14 separate categories for 2005, ranging from an individual award (CIO of the Year) to group awards in areas such as Small to Medium Enterprise, Education, and Government.

An exciting new development for 2005 sees the launch of three new categories: Excellence in the Use of IT in Export, Excellence in the Use of IT in Health, and Excellence in the Use of IT in a Community Project. Each represents the changing face and social impact of information technology in New Zealand.

For the second year, the Awards will not only recognise, but reward, innovative IT applications and solutions in the Not for Profit category. Often these groups work with extremely limited budgets and resources, however, what they achieve with IT can have a huge positive impact on the wider community. Sponsored by Westpac, the category winner will be rewarded with a $10,000 cash prize donation.
Each category is judged by an independent panel of three judges; included in the 42 judges involved in the awards are some of New Zealand’s most prominent IT and business leaders.

Entries for the awards close on 18 March 2005 and the Computerworld Excellence Awards Gala Dinner will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Auckland, on 29 July 2005.
