International Game Experts To Speak At Free Event In Auckland

On Wednesday 9 February, three international game industry experts; Will Vale (UK), Todd Gantzler (US) and Robert Daly (US) will be speaking at a free event, Career Cheats - How to take your gaming career to the next level.
The speakers will providing the low-down on the world of game development and tips on how to enter this exciting industry, estimated to be worth $86 billion worldwide by 2006. To follow will be a presentation from the International Game Developers Association¹s (IGDA) Auckland Chapter and a sneak preview of the original PC game title, 'Goliath' that Media Design School¹s students are developing.
A quiz sponsored by NZGamer.com will conclude the evening with prize pack of gamer goodies valued at $200 to be awarded to the winner.

Will Vale
Changes in the games industry
The cyclic nature of the video game industry and console transitions. The history of the industry from NES and Super Nintendo to PS1, PS2 and today¹s PS3, XBOX2 and beyond.
Will Vale has been involved in the games industry since 1998. For the last six years he has led a team of coders working on PC and console titles. Will¹s has a passion for creating programmable shaders on Xbox and can¹t understand why people play Counterstrike instead of Quake. Will is now running a game development consultancy firm in Wellington (www.secondintention.com).
Todd Gantzler

Todd Gantzler is Course Leader for the Graduate Diploma of Game Development at Media Design School. Todd has worked in the digital games industry on such titles as Rebel Assault II, Gex 3D, Cyberia, and Akuji the Heartless as 2D and 3D Artist, Character Animator, and Game Designer. His book Game Development Essentials: Video Game Art was published in July 2004.

Robert Daly hails from California and has over 18 years experience in the US games industry, including VP of Product Development for BAM! Entertainment. Robert has developed games for PC, PS1, PS2, Genesis, Dreamcast, XBOX, GameBoy Colour, GameBoy Advance, NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 and Nintendo GameCube platforms. His gaming credits include; Pool of Radiance, Star Control 2, SF Rush, Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey, Warriors of Might and Magic, Bujingai and Power Puff Girls Relish Rampage.
