Colin Jackson Elected President Of INTERNETNZ

At its Annual Meeting held on 29 July 2005, InternetNZ (The Internet Society of New Zealand Incorporated) elections for President, Vice President and 5 Council positions were concluded. The successful candidates are:

Colin Jackson was elected from 2 nominees as the new President of InternetNZ. Mr Jackson was a founder member of the Society, its inaugural Treasurer and more recently Deputy Chair of the .nz Oversight Committee. Mr Jackson is a self employed ICT / Internet consultant.

David Farrar was re-elected to the position of Vice President, having already served in this role for the past 2 years. Mr Farrar has a long history of engagement with InternetNZ Council, and also serves as a director of the .nz registry company NZRS.

There were 10 nominations for 6 vacancies on the InternetNZ Council. Incumbents re-elected for 2 years include David Harris, Jennifer Northover and Simon Riley, with Rodney Prescott re-elected for a 12 month term. Peter Macaulay, formerly Executive Director of the Society, was one of two new appointees to Council. The final position will be filled by Mark Harris, who returns to InternetNZ Council after several years’ break.
