Suspects Nabbed By Market Leading Technology

Tuesday, November 15, 2005

The fast response of a Bay of Plenty security firm that led to the arrest of two people in Mount Maunganui last night, was attributed to the use of improved alarm monitoring software developed in New Zealand.

The software enabled an automated message to be delivered to a patrolman’s cell phone less than thirty seconds after an industrial site in Papamoa was broken into.

Patriot 5, a Windows based software, easily integrates with Video/Camera software applications such as Oz vision and Surelabs. The software also supports many additional modules including paging, GSM/CDMA messaging, e-mailing, faxing and telephony.

Patriot Systems Ltd, based in Gisborne, developed the monitoring software.

Security alarm monitoring and patrol company Prowler Security, attended the burglary less than two minutes after the alarm at the premises was activated.

A patrolman for Prowler Security arrived to find a dark van at the rear of the property. A male suspect was seen running from the fence area to the passenger van which drove off drove away with its lights turned off. A barbed wire fence had been cut and a quantity of aluminium was found stacked up outside the fence.

The security patrol unit followed the suspects to a site near Domain Road where police and security stopped the van.

Two males were arrested and taken into custody.
