Futures Thinking Aotearoa February Forum

Futures Thinking Aotearoa February Forum

Can Science And Technology Help Us With Our Future Infrastructure Needs?

Four experienced futurists will present their individual perspective on one of each of the recent scenarios published by the UK's Foresight Project on "Intelligent Infrastructure Systems" in the light of NZ's needs for additional infrastructure over the next 50 years.

The scenarios titled "Perpetual Motion", "Urban Colonies", "Tribal Trading" and "Good Intentions" offer a rich source of highly critiqued material put together by over 300 people from the research, business and public sector over the last 2 years.

We will ask questions specifically about having a safe, sustainable transport system for NZ and whether New Zealanders would be willing to accept some of the challenges and new behaviours that intelligent infrastructure design and use may impose upon us.

The session will end with an open discussion about the utilisation of other sets of scenarios from differing cultures and governmental systems to discussing the challenges facing NZ with its ageing and constrained infrastructure.

Bring along your colleagues and friends to get a different analytical perspective on a key topic for our economy.

Tuesday, 28 February from 12.15 - 1.30pm Museum Room, Turnbull House, Bowen St, Wellington

Cost: New Zealand Futures Trust members: $5 Non-NZFT members: $15
