Tomizone Available from Orcon

For immediate release 2 May 2007

Tomizone Available from Orcon

Tomizone, the global company offering an innovative Wi-Fi Hotspot service, is excited to announce its first ISP affiliate deal with New Zealand Internet Service Provider Orcon. Orcon is New Zealand’s largest 100% Kiwi-owned and fastest growing ISP. This affiliation means Orcon customers will be able to securely share their broadband connections and be part of Tomizone’s growing global Wi-Fi Hotspot network.

As of Monday 14th May 2007, any new or existing Orcon customer can order a Wi-Fi D-Link router with the free Tomizone software pre-loaded.

Tomizone enables any broadband connection anywhere to be a revenue earning Wi-Fi or wireless Hotspot in an international network that is easy to use, secure and global. Anybody can connect to the Hotspot for a very low cost. The Tomizone Hotspot owner then gets half of the money generated.

Orcon is the first ISP in New Zealand to offer their customers the ability to share their broadband connection and earn revenue, which could create one of the largest Wi-Fi networks in the country.

“We are really excited about the partnership with Orcon. It means their customers now have the added benefit, at no extra cost, of securely sharing their broadband connection, with a potential to make money using the Tomizone platform that collects and bills users, governs usage and returns revenue share to the Hotspot owner,” says Tomizone’s CEO Steve Simms. “Orcon has wanted a service like this for some time and they can see the value of offering this to their new and loyal customers.”

Tomizone recently announced that it had done a deal with D-Link to have the Tomizone software embedded within selected D-Link Wi-Fi routers.

“Tomizone came to us with a simple solution to something that we believe will be quite big over time,” says Seeby Woodhouse, CEO of Orcon. “Our customers increasingly want to be wirelessly connected to their broadband connection and the Tomizone system is a nice way to share it and secure it at the same time.”

Up until now the growth of new Hotspots has been the domain of the big Telco’s. Tomizone has changed that model. By giving away its free Wi-Fi Hotspot software, Tomizone is allowing anyone with a bit of time, inclination and a selected D-Link wireless router to set up a secure Hotspot from any broadband connection and start making money.

In recent years there has been a huge increase in worldwide demand for people to connect to the Internet as they move about. There are currently 400 million broadband connections globally and it is forecast to rise to 600 million by 2010. In contrast, there are only 150,000 public Wi-Fi Hotspots available which is at odds with the number of Wi-Fi gadgets already in the hands of people. Tomizone see the potential to ‘share’ connections and let users build a ‘ground up’ Wi-Fi Hotspot network by allowing anyone to ‘share’ their broadband Internet connection and make money from it. Tomizone software also prevents ‘leeching’ or ‘bandwidth theft’ from unauthorised people who connect to Wi-Fi or broadband networks – something that ISP’s and their customers have been wanting for sometime.

Orcon customers will be able to buy selected D-Link routers with Tomizone software pre-loaded as of 14th May 2007.
