NASA’s Langley Research Center Selects Unisys as Large Business Contractor of the Year
Company has served NASA for 32 years
NASA’s Langley Research Center has honored Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) with its Large Business Contractor of the Year award, the company announced today. Criteria for Unisys’ selection included technical performance; administrative management and outreach - including Unisys mentoring activities on behalf of small businesses and/or minority contractors.
Unisys’ service to NASA Langley Research Center spans the initial contract award in 1976 and six successful re-competes, either of Simulation and Flight Information Technology Services (SAFITS) or its predecessor contracts. Since Unisys began working for Langley Research Center, its role has grown from providing technical support services to providing high-end, performance-based solutions of SAFITS. These technology services include the software and hardware necessary to conduct simulated atmospheric and space flight research and to advance the state-of-the art of simulation technology. Today, aeronautics and space flight research projects each account for about 50 percent of Unisys’ work with Langley Research Center.
“We’re delighted – and humbled – that Langley Research Center has given us this award. Modeling and simulation are critical to aerospace research, and we are proud to have been part of NASA’s efforts to advance these technologies over more than three decades,” said Ted Davies, managing partner, civilian agencies, Unisys Federal Systems.
