Mitsubishi
delivers award-winning technology
Mitsubishi Motors’ innovative Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) has been named the Best New Technology for 2009 at the Canadian Car of the Year awards.
The all-wheel drive technology – standard in Mitsubishi’s new Lancer Evolution X – is an advanced vehicle dynamics control system that uses sensors to measure the driver’s intent and then ensure the vehicle can safely achieve the driver’s desired path.
The four separate components of the system – Active Yaw Control (AYC), Active Centre Differential (ACD), sport ABS and Active Stability Control (ASC) – are integrated to regulate brake force and torque distribution to individual wheels. This leads to elevated drive power, improved cornering performance and better vehicle stability.
Judges from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) chose S-AWC from a list of seven entries, which also included Mitsubishi’s Twin Clutch Super Sport Transmission (TC-SST), General Motors’ OnStar Stolen Vehicle Slowdown, Infiniti Around View Monitor, Infiniti Scratch Shield paint, Mercedes-Benz AMG’s Multi-Clutch Transmission (MCT) and Nissan’s Distance Control Assist.
