Panasonic announces
world’s first LCD full HD 3D home
projector
Panasonic to help make London 2012 the first 3D Olympics
Auckland, September – Panasonic is today launching the PT-AE7000E, the world’s first LCD full HD 3D projector.
This is the first home projector Panasonic has released in two years and represents a significant shift in home projection technology. Panasonic far outsells its competitors in the home projection sector.
Chris Key, Marketing Manager for Panasonic New Zealand, said: “The AE7000’s light engine uses super high speed LCD technology that supports refresh rates at 480Hz, which is double the speed of the next fastest imaging technology available today.”
He added: “3D home television is something we are going to see more and more of next year with Panasonic working with London 2012 to make it the first Olympics filmed in 3D.”
For
the London 2012 on-site production, Panasonic will provide
3D equipment including camcorders, TV monitors and a
technical team for live 3D TV.
It is a tie-up between
Panasonic, a worldwide Olympic sponsor, the Olympic
Broadcasting Services and the International Olympic
Committee.
Director of Olympic Broadcasting Services,
Manolo Romero, described the move to 3D as "historic",
adding: "we believe that this will be the most significant
step in the sporting history of broadcasting."
The AE7000 also packs a bigger punch when it comes to showing 2D content, with triple the contrast, compared to previous models. And while home projectors aren’t for everyone, Chris Key highlights what kind of buyers may be interested in this product:
“For those who want a more immersive, theatre-style experience at home, the AE7000 is the way to go.”
