Auckland, New Zealand - 20 January 2012 New Zealand Crown Research Institute, Plant & Food Research, has launched a new blog at www.plantandfood.info aimed at communicating more of the Institute’s news, events and research activities with the public. The new site recognises the increasing global trend and the value for open two-way corporate communication.
The Institute first began using social media tools in 2009 to engage with its stakeholders. The new blog brings these and other related channels together, as well as featuring updates on emerging research and commentary on the science and business areas in which Plant & Food Research are involved.
Plant & Food Research is the CRI charged with enhancing the value and productivity of New Zealand’s horticultural, arable, seafood and food and beverage industries to contribute to economic growth and the environmental and social prosperity of New Zealand.
The Institute maintains a lead role in the areas of novel fruit, vegetable and crop cultivars, sustainable production and processing systems and plant- and seafood-based foods, ingredients and biomaterials. In addition to these core areas Plant & Food Research also contribute to research in biosecurity, land, soil and freshwater management, climate change adaptation, pastoral forage varieties and foods for human nutrition, health and wellbeing.
