A great weekend for live music
The ridge to the east of the South Island moves out into the Pacific Ocean, leaving a northerly flow over the country as we head into the weekend. The northerly flow combined with an active cold front approaching from the south, means a wet weekend for the west of the South Island, while other areas of the country will have a mostly fine weekend.
The northerly onshore flow brings some cloud and a few showers to northern areas of the North Island but a lot of places will have fine weather this weekend.
“It’s a good weekend to hear some live music,” said Lisa Murray Communications Meteorologist, ”City Limits in Auckland will have a mostly sunny afternoon although there could be a brief shower around too, while WOMAD goers will see long fine spells Saturday and Sunday.”
The northerly flow combined with an active cold front approaching from the south, means a wet weekend for the west of the South Island. “Heavy rain with large accumulations are expected on the already green West Coast as the front moves up the South Island over the weekend,” said Lisa Murray, ”it should be mainly fine for remaining parts of the South Island, however, a few showers may affect those in the east on Sunday.“ Keep up to date with the latest Severe Weather Warnings at http://info.metraweather.com/e/60812/warnings-home/7v1k8t/303644996 .
It is a mixed bag for Otago Anniversary Weekend. “ Otago should see a warm day on Saturday, with Sunday cooling slightly but still getting to the about 22 degrees” explained Ms Murray, “butMonday will be much cooler with a top temperature of 16 degrees, so an extra layer of clothing might be wise!”
