Saturday was fine and still with perfect racing conditions. The 60 competitors who have arrived from throughout the country were relaxed and enjoying the atmosphere and the opportunity to catch up with fellow paddlers.

Open Men's K1 1000

First Steven Ferguson North Shore 3.30.45

Second Troy Burbidge North Shore 3.31.16

Third Fred Teear Arawa (Chch) 3.34.81

A great race with Troy leading until the 750 and Steve timing his acceleration perfectly. Fred challenged the whole way and has made his mark as a serious emerging competitor

Open Women's K1 1000

First Katie Pocock North Shore 4.15.45

Second Emily Willock Poverty Bay 4.30.29

Third Rosie Shakespeare Arawa (Chch) 4.31.69

Katie's 8th consecutive title, won comfortably. Emily's first race as a senior and a good result.

Junior Men's K1 1000

First James Clarke North Shore 3.47.31

Second Marty McDowell Mana (Wgn) 3.47.76

Third Steven Sly North Shore 3.57.57

An exciting race closely contested, with James just holding his lead from Marty. This was James's first event in a K1, having come from a strong surf life saving background.
