Waitomo Glowworm Caves and The Legendary Black Water Rafting Company, both part of the Tourism Holdings Limited (thl)  portfolio of brands, have recently launched two exciting new activities for inquisitive and adventurous tourists looking to take their New Zealand travel experience to new depths. 
 
Experience the Trilogy and the Black Odyssey are two innovative activities recently launched by thl, which allow visitors to go deep underground and experience the geological wonders of Waitomo regional caves.  
 
Renowned for crystal limestone formations, subterranean waterfalls and a canopy of glowworms, glide by boat along an underground river leaving you awe-struck at the sheer majesty of nature.

Visitors can Experience the Trilogy with a unique tourism package based around the success of the recently launched Hobbit movie that showcases to the world the best of what the North Island of New Zealand has to offer.
 
The innovative partnership between three of New Zealand’s leading tourism companies: Hobbiton Movie Set Tours, Te Puia cultural Maori experience in Rotorua and thl’s Waitomo Glowworm Caves and Ruakuri Cave where part of the Hobbit movie was created, makes it even easier for domestic and international travellers to experience New Zealand’s breath-taking attractions.

As part of the Experience the Trilogy tour visitors travel to the magical world of Waitomo and experience Waitomo Glowworm Caves and Ruakuri Cave.
 
For those looking for an exciting challenge to really push their comfort zone, the Black Odyssey - a world first in technical caving adventures - is perfect for adrenaline junkies.
 
The Black Odyssey is a four hour dry caving adventure led by expert guides from The Legendary Black Water Rafting Company which has 25 years of caving experience, taking travellers through some of the most hidden parts of the extraordinary Ruakuri Cave.
 
Travellers will get to face their fears with extreme traversing and mind-blowing heights as they edge across bridges elevated above roaring streams, spider-walk through ancient rift passages and challenge themselves with technical high rope work, abseiling and flying foxes.

Before or after your caving experience the Waitomo Glowworm Caves Visitor Centre, which opened in 2010, is the ideal place to gather and relax.
 
The spectacular architectural building offers a variety of facilities and experiences to Waitomo visitors, including a restaurant spanning two levels which seats up to 250 customers, and includes exclusive dining area for groups.
 
There is also a 50 seat café and a retail space offering a large variety of high quality gifts and souvenirs.
