Kashmir: 10 troops killed in 2 bomb blasts

In Srinagar 10 troops were killed in 2 powerful bomb blasts this afternoon. The killed included 1 DSP Kuldip Sharma. The 30 people injured in the blast included, 3 police officers. 8 shops were destroyed and several vehicles caught fire, the photographer of Hindustan Times, Pradeep Bhatia was killed and 6 other journalists on professional duty were also injured. They included correspondents of Daily Tribune, Asian Age, Zee TV, ANI TV and Reuters. The bomb blasts took place in the High security zone, Regal Chowk, in front of the State Bank of India's Branch.
Earlier in the morning, the Indian troops carried out extensive crackdowns in various localities of Srinagar in its continuing campaign of victimizing Kashmiris. The troops besieged Mahjoor Nahgar, Suthra Shahi, Tinkipura, Bhorikadal, Basanr Bagh and Mander Bagh. Houses were raided and ransacked and inmates subjected to severe violence. Male members of families were ordered out of the houses and subjected to grueling identity parades.
Forceful anti-India demonstrations were held in Budgam against military repression. The demonstrations were sparked by excessive acts of terrorism by the troops, not sparing even those working in their fields. The enraged people, whose life had been made miserable. Took out a protest procession which marched through the town, raising slogans against Indian subjugation and in favour of liberation.
An Imam of mosque, Maulvi Muhammad Sultan was arrested at Nawakadal, in Srinagar and declared missing in custody. One Abdul Rashid, taken into custody in Ganderbal, was also reported to have disappeared in custody.
The Mujahideen clashed with troops in Karnah area of Kupwara inflicting heavy casualties on troops. The troops in vengeance blasted 10 structures but details of casualties, in this action were not available. The troops were challenged in siege of Dardpur in Lolab area and the exchange of firing continued for several hours. A number of troops were killed and injured. Two Mujahideen were reported martyred. Two women got injured in reckless firing by troops. Clashes were also reported from Warson, Lalpura and Rajwar, in Kupwara district, Safapura in Bandipura and Qazipora, in the same area. While details of the other actions were not available, three troops were reported killed and three others injured in the clash in Qazipura. Two grenades were fired at Cement Bridge locality of Baramula but details could not be ascertained because of military blockades. A bomb blast was reported from Uri. Two troops died of heart attack in Srinagar due to hypertension caused by the haunting fear of Mujahideen's surprise attacks.
