MNC's Withdraw From Fiji

Some major international firms have withdrawn from Fiji.

According to a Radio Navtarang news today, included in the five is the Levis Company which has cancelled its contract with a local factory after the terrorist take-over of the Parliament. The local company has closed its factory laying off 300 workers.

The radio news quoted the President of the Textile, Clothing and Footwear Council, Ranjit Solanki as saying that the cancellation of the contracts by major brand name chains with Fiji companies is adversely affecting the garment industry. Solanki did not specify the number of companies which have cancelled their contracts except mentioning Levis.

It is expected that more companies will be withdrawing from Fiji in due course.
