Sky Television Broadcasts UK Election Live

In response to the enormous interest in the outcome of the UK general election, SKY Television has made a special arrangement with BSkyB’s Sky News channel to broadcast live full coverage of the election.

To catch this special broadcast, tune into Sky Digital’s CNBC (Channel 16) from 7.30pm Thursday 7 June to 9pm Friday 8 June.

- Sky News’ team will comprise political editor Adam Boulton, Emmy award wining Jeremy Thompson, Kay Burley, Anna Botting and Martin Stanford with the ‘Standford gym’, a 3D virtual House of Commons with 3D graphics of current voting patterns.

- The programme will provide live links to polling booths and politicians, video, computer graphics and virtual reality displays

- A scoreboard map will colour the UK as results come in and pop-up histograms will be used to illustrate results

- Sky News is known for its entertaining as well as serious take on the news and the UK elections will be no exception. Caricatures of the party leaders will be used along with on air trailers showing the party leaders’ moods on the day.

- Instant election updates are available on screen through use of a ‘ticker’ and graphics showing up to the minute poll figures. The unique Sky News Ready Reckoner, devised by Sky’s psephologist, Professional Michael Thrasher, will convert poll figures into commons seats.
