China's Foreign Minister on Improving Sino-U.S. Relations
SHANGHAI, October 18 China's Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said here Thursday that Sino-U.S. relations have made much headway.
Tang made the remark at a press conference following the conclusion of the 13th Ministerial Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum Thursday afternoon.
The minister said that the two sides have conducted close consultations on the anti-terrorism issue and that, in economic and trade fields, bilateral cooperative projects have also made fresh progress.
Talking about the upcoming meeting between Chinese President Jiang Zemin and U.S. President George W. Bush on the sidelines of the October 20-21 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, Tang said, the meeting is a very important one taking place in a period of improving bilateral ties between China and the U.S.
Tang expressed confidence in the prospects of bilateral ties between the two countries.
